Language and Literacy Researchers of Canada (LLRC) is a special interest group (SIG) within the Canadian Association for Curriculum Studies (CACS), which is a constituent association of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE). LLRC is comprised of individuals who are interested in language and literacy education and research, particularly, but not exclusively, within the Canadian context.
LLRC/ACCLL understands literacies broadly and situationally as the ways in which people make contextualized meaning and use language (written and multimodal) for a range of purposes and in a variety of forms.
The Language and Literacy Researchers are partners with Language and Literacy: A Canadian Education E-Journal.

Join us for Decoding, Phonics, & Reading: The Double Helix Theory of Teaching
Professor Dominic Wyse (UK) from the Institute of Education IOE and University College London, along with Charlotte Hacking (UK) from the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education, will be discussing their work: Decoding, Phonics, & Reading: The Double Helix Theory of Teaching. This session explicates the Double Helix of Reading and Writing, which is proposed as a new theory and model of literacy teaching. It also shares how outstanding ‘real’ books written for children can be at the heart of effective teaching of phonics, reading and writing, informed by the most up to date research and theory.
